Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 September 2026

Vale ("Vale", "we", "us" or "our") is based in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

  • Information you give us: such as your name and email address when you sign up for updates or early access, contact us, or create an account.
  • App information: if you use the Vale app, the calendar events, tasks, routines, reminders, notes, journal entries, files you attach, and voice or text requests you choose to add; any budgeting details you choose to enter (such as bills and income); places and meal plans you save; content you choose to share with team members; and information from services you choose to connect (currently Google Calendar).
  • Sensitive information: Vale is designed with neurodivergent people in mind. You may choose to tell us about things like ADHD, autism or your support needs. This is sensitive information, and we only collect it with your consent and use it to personalise your experience.
  • Technical information: such as device type, browser, IP address and how you use our website and app, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Advertising measurement: our website and app use the Meta Pixel to record anonymous page views and sign-up or purchase events, so we can measure our advertising. We do not share your app content (such as tasks, notes or chats) with Meta.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide, personalise and improve Vale.
  • To send you updates, early-access news and service messages (you can unsubscribe at any time).
  • To respond to your questions and provide support.
  • To keep Vale secure and meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Connected services

If you connect another service to Vale, we only access the information needed for the features you turn on. You can disconnect a service at any time. That service's own privacy policy also applies to your use of it.

Google accounts: If you sign in with Google or connect Google Calendar, we access your Google email address and the calendar events you choose to sync, and use them only to provide those features in Vale. You can disconnect Google at any time. Vale's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google data for advertising and we do not sell it.

Vale browser extension: The Vale Chrome extension is a companion to your Vale account. It can replace your new tab page with your Vale planner and search box, show reminders for tasks you schedule in Vale, and show a small Vale button on a page when you choose to open it there. It stores, locally in your browser only: the Vale address you enter, the personal API key you paste, your search-engine preference, and a short summary of your upcoming tasks so your new tab loads quickly. It communicates only with Vale. It does not read, collect or transmit the content of the pages you visit, and does not collect your browsing history, keystrokes, location, cookies, financial information, passwords, personal communications or health information. When you choose to save something from a page to Vale, only what you choose to save is sent to your Vale account. Extension data is not sold or used for advertising.

4. Sharing your information

We only share personal information with trusted service providers who help us run Vale (such as hosting, email and analytics providers), when you ask us to, or when required by law. Some of these providers may store information outside Australia. When this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected to a standard similar to Australian law.

The main providers we use are:

  • AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic and Google): when you use Vale's assistant, the text of your request (including transcribed voice requests) is sent to these providers to generate a response. They may process it outside Australia, mainly in the United States. Please only include sensitive information in a request if you are comfortable with it being processed this way.
  • Payments (Stripe and PayPal): they process your payments directly. We never see or store your full card details; we keep a record of your plan and subscription.
  • Email (Resend): to send account, receipt and reminder emails.
  • Hosting, database and file storage providers: to store your account, app data and attachments securely.
  • Meta: anonymous page-view and sign-up or purchase events from the Meta Pixel, for advertising measurement.

5. Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it only for as long as we need it, then delete or de-identify it.

6. Your choices and rights

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. You can also unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in each email.

7. Cookies

Our website and app use cookies and similar technologies to make them work, to understand how visitors use them, and to measure our advertising (including the Meta Pixel). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly.

8. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
